When Lying Becomes the Family Language

One lie is painful.

Constant lying is corrosive.

It changes the air in the home. A parent stops asking questions because they already know the answer might be false. A teen stops feeling the weight of their words because deception becomes normal. The house becomes a courtroom. Every conversation becomes an investigation.

“Did you finish your homework?”

“Yes.”

“Were you where you said you were?”

“Yes.”

“Are you still talking to that person?”

“No.”

“Did you vape?”

“No.”

Then the truth comes out.

Again.

And the parent feels something deeper than anger.
